An unidentified cracker known as malcor has defaced MacApper.com, marking the second compromised Apple-related website in what has become a series of attacks. Citing Mac user "smugness," malcor claims to be "amputating" the "rot" for the good of the Mac user community. Each attack includes an image of one or more rotting apples, usually in a late stage of decay or teaming with insects devouring the aging fruit, as well as a specific message to the Mac community.

"This website has been flagged for excessive Apple fanboism, and has been taken down for 24 hours," the defaced websites read. "This is a message to the rest of the Mac community, so listen up. Ever heard of hubris? Tone it down, and you will not be attacked. Everyone else is open game." So far two sites have been compromised and defaced, with two warnings given prior to those attacks. First GlennWolsey.com and now MacApper.com have seen their Web content replaced by the above message from malcor.

The attacker keeps an updated blog documenting each attack, and gives warning to each victim prior to defacing the website. Malcor also offers fairly definitive clues to the public about the next intended victim, and promises to continue the attacks in spite of numerous requests to the contrary. "Lucky for the majority of you who are cheering these attacks on, I don't care at all what these fanbois think," malcor blogged two days ago. "So yes, the attacks will continue."
