Briefly: Leopard hot on P2P...
In brief: Leopard was a hot item on P2P networks, a new ScriptPak for RouteBuddy has been released, YouTube sports some nice integration with Leopard, REAL World 2008 speakers are sought, and a Lightweight online remote control has debuted ... InformationWeek reports that the release of Leopard was anticlimactic for P2P users who have been downloading Leopard in various forms of beta for about a year. In fact, the highest traffic occurred after Apple distributed the release candidate in September. "At that point, the number of Leopard downloads was comparable to those of the most popular movies and songs." Interestingly, however, Apple's refusal to use anti-piracy technology may actually have helped it in terms of sales. "People downloading illegal pre-release copies often say in chat rooms and discussion forums that they plan to buy a legitimate copy, which was not the same for Windows Vista thieves."

New ScriptPak for RouteBuddy released MacSpeech has released a new ScriptPak for RouteBuddy, the popular mapping and GPS navigation software for Macintosh. The new ScriptPak adds over 60 commands to iListen, allowing users to do virtually anything in RouteBuddy they would normally do using the keyboard or menus. The ScriptPak for RouteBuddy sells for $15 and is available from the MacSpeech web site. ScriptPaks allow you to control applications with your voice and are not necessary to use iListen for dictation. YouTube integration with Leopard YouTube has some excellent integration with Leopard's Web Clip feature. Essentially, you can use the tool to create a widget displaying, for instance, the most popular videos of the day. The exact proportions are automatically selected, and Flash works properly in the widget. You can then click on a video to play it, and the widget will automatically re-size to the correct dimensions in order to show the full video. REAL World 2008 speakers sought REAL Software has announced that they are looking for guest speakers to present during the keynote at REAL World 2008, their upcoming conference. REAL World will take place in Austin, TX from March 19-21, 2008. Winners will not only get to present to the entire REAL World audience, they will also get a free conference pass and free hotel room stay during the event. Lightweight online remote control debuts Glance Networks, creators of the Glance desktop sharing service, have debuted a new lightweight remote control feature that allows users to share their mouse and keyboard with other participants to demonstrate software, co-edit documents, collaborate on designs, fill in forms and more. Glance host can share control with guests at any time. The host instantly regains control by just moving his or her mouse. To let a guest take back control, the host pauses. A Mac version will be debuting soon.
