MacTuneUp cleans, speeds up...
Macware today released a new way to clean up, optimize, and backup Mac systems. The software -- titled MacTuneUp -- is designed to prevent system instability and speed up a Mac in a few simple steps. The application quickly discovers as well as fixes problems, restores hard disk space, creates bootable disk backups, and maximizes internet as well as network connections to improve performance. MacTuneUp is priced at $30 and requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

The software enables users to create bootable backups of hard disks that are usable to create disk clones, move an operating system from one disk to another, or individually backup system folders. MacTuneUp also supports creating a disk image of a system volume that is usable to recover using Apple's Software Restore method. "Accelerate your internet network connection with a few simple clicks to boost the performance of your email, FTP, internet browsing, chats, and other online activity," said Macware. "Keep your Mac running like new with an easy Maintenance Pilot that runs periodic tasks, repairs permissions and optimizes your system." MacTuneUp aims to add an extra layer of protection to a Mac by configuring the firewall or adding a custom firewall with personalized rules to block harmful files.
