Briefly: Google Desktop upd...
In brief: Google Desktop for the Mac gains support for 9 new languages, there's more criticism for the revised Dock in Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), CS Odessa plans to ship ConceptDraw 7.3 later this month, the fourth Apple Shop in Italy has opened, and Showtime selects Adobe's Creative Suite 3 for its in-house creative agency ... Google Desktop for the Mac now supports 9 new languages: Chinese Simplified and Traditional, Dutch, UK English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish. Going beyond localization, the new version of the software also enhances international searching. This includes improving search and indexing support for non-Roman languages such as Chinese and Japanese, as well as fixing bugs for English users. Google says "This update will most likely require a reboot and will create a new index of the information on your computer, to improve the quality of searches across all languages."

Leopard's Dock: does anyone at Apple use it on the side? Add this to the growing criticism for the revised Dock in Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard): it denies gravity. When the Dock is placed on the side of the screen rather than the bottom, the icons certainly aren't resting on a surface, instead adhering to the surface by some unknown force. Paul of Rogue Amoeba writes: "I've yet to see any other comments on the Dock being used on the side of the screen. This may be because those who've tried it have been stricken instantly with vertigo and had to go lie down for a bit. I'm powering through the nausea, however, in an effort to make you sick too. It really isn't an exaggeration to say that it may make you dizzy. Like an M.C. Escher acid trip, there appear to be several perspectives at once." ConceptDraw 7.3 due later this month CS Odessa will soon release ConceptDraw 7.3, which comes with Presentation Mode and an improved, faster import of Visio XML Files. The update is scheduled for shipment on September 18th. Visio users can specify that all Visio drawings they create be saved as XML files by default. All users of ConceptDraw 7.x will be able to receive a no charge upgrade to version 7.3. Fourth Apple shop in Italy opens Apple has opened a new "store within a store" in Italy, dubbed an "Apple Shop." This is the fourth store in Italy: three are in Milan and one in Rome. The latest is inside a Saturn store, itself within a large shopping center in Assago-Milanofiori, just outside Milan. setteB has pictures of the new store's exterior and interior. Showtime standardizes on Adobe CS3 Adobe has announced that Showtime Networks has implemented Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium edition across its in-house creative agency, The Red Group. The Red Group produces 2,000 to 2,500 print advertising pieces and marketing materials annually. Paul Nicholson, vice president of print and broadcast production for Showtime, said "The ability to seamlessly combine the creative tools that we use every day in one comprehensive workflow is tremendous and fuels the productivity and creativity of our design process."
