Antares offers Universal audio tools
Antares Audio Technologies has released new Universal versions of Auto-Tune 5, its professional pitch correction application and AVOX (the Antares Vocal Toolkit), which offers five state-of-the-art vocal processing modules to create vocal effects for audio post-production applications. Released earlier this month, Auto-Tune corrects intonation problems in vocals or solo instruments, in real time, without distortion or artifacts, while preserving all of the expressive nuance of the original performance; version 5 adds better pitch detection, a sleek new user interface, and a host of new features and productivity enhancements, including compatibility with pen tablet input, realtime graphical vibrato depth adjustment, multiple simultaneous Graphical Mode instances, realtime pitch tracking display, and more; it is available as TDM ($650; $170 upgrade) or as RTAS, VST and Audio Units ($400; $100 upgrade) for Mac OS X.

The AVOX Antares Vocal Toolkit includes offers five modules: THROAT Physical Modeling Vocal Designer ($250), which lets you process a vocal through a physical model of the human vocal tract. It neutralizes the effect of the original singer's vocal tract as well as allows users to specify the characteristics of the modeled vocal tract. DUO ($200) automatically generates a doubled vocal part from an existing vocal; CHOIR ($200) is a unique processor that actually turns a single voice into 4, 8, 16, or 32 distinct individual unison voices, each with its own pitch, timing and vibrato variations. PUNCH ($130) gives vocals more dynamic impact, while SYBIL ($100) controls vocal sibilance with a flexible compressor with threshold, ratio, attack and decay controls as well as a variable highpass frequency.

AVOX supports Mac OS X; it requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later. The RTAS Version requires Pro Tools or Pro Tools LE v6.2 or later, while the VST/AU versions require support from the host program. Ten day trials of each are available online.
