QuickerTek has unveiled 'Quicky,'the first Transceiver/Antenna for wireless networking requiring only a USB port, according to the company. The device boosts wireless range and signal strength by at least twice that of Apple's 12-, 15-, and 17-inch notebook standard range, clipping onto the top of the laptop case. The Quicky features a small antenna with a built-in transceiver, requiring no computer skills to set up or use and remaining completely transparent to users as it boosts signal strength. The device boasts 500 milliwatts of RF power and attains improved signal strength by bringing the antenna out of the notebook chassis where it normally resides. Quicky works with all 802.11/b/g Wi-Fi equipment from common manufacturers such as Linksys, D-Link, Belkin, and all of Apple's AirPort-supported devices without the need to install additional software. Quicky is available for $230, requiring Mac OS X 9 or Mac OS X 10.3 or later.
