Smallest external DVD burner debuts
Plextor has unveiled its PX-608CU, the world's smallest external DVD burner, measuring just 0.6-inches thick and weighting 8.8 ounces. The new writer is compact enough stow alongside a notebook without consuming much more space. The burner is powered entirely through the USB 2 interface, making it ideal for laptop owners on-the-go without access to power outlets. Plextor's PX-608CU drive can burn dual-layer DVDs, and boasts a maximum single-layer recording speed of 8X, according to Electronista. The new drive is slated for shipment in October, though pricing is still undetermined.
