Until recently, Jobs was a mainstay of the yearly event which usually takes place at the end of summer. Steve Jobs has often used Apple Expo in the past to showcase new products from Apple that were set to launch for the holidays. The CEO's presence as the keynote speaker is often a sign that a major product announcement is expected, making this year's absence suggestive that the Cupertino-based company will offer only minor updates at best.
