Apple may still have the last word following recent reports showing pirated betas of Mac OS X for Intel running on standard PC hardware, according to one columnist. Circumventing the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) to allow Mac OS X to run on generic Intel platforms involves modifying the system code to ignore any calls to the TPM. Larry Loeb says that the fact that applications themselves will almost certainly make use of the TPM means would-be users of the application will be required to disassemble and crack each and every TPM call to get a functioning application.
