Sony has introduced its new 5 megapixel Cyber-shot T1 digital camera, which it says has a "slim, pocket-friendly design no larger than a deck of cards." It features a large 2.5" LCD view finder, shoots full-resolution images in one second intervals, can capture four high-speed burst shots in less than two seconds, and captures moving images in MPEG-VX Fine mode using optional Memory Stick PRO Duo cards. It is due in January for $550. Sony also introduced its new Cyber-shot U-series. Expected in January for about $200, the stylish 2 megapixel U40 camera will come in four colors (silver, black, dark blue and red) and "is about the size of a candy bar. Other features of the Cyber-shot DSC-T1 include a new Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar optical lens that operates within the camera, a 3X optical zoom, and 8 new shooting modes. The USB port, A/V Out and DC jacks have also been relocated to the new camera docking station (bundled accessory) for charging the battery pack or connecting the camera to a TV or computer.
The Cyber-shot U-series accepts both ultra small Memory Stick PRO Duo and Memory Stick Duo flash memory cards, offers pre-flash metering with adjustable flash level and red-eye reduction, video-only MPEG movie mode (160x112), a bright LCD monitor, bundled NiHM AAA rechargeable batteries, and the ability to print directly with any PictBridge compatible printer.
Accesories for both cameras include its $200 Marine Pack, underwater camera housing that protects the camera to depths as low as 120 feet (40 meters), a removable battery ($60), a compact travel charger ($60), Memory Stick PRO Duo (starting at $125), and leather case ($50).
