IBM offers more details on PowerPC G5
Ars Technica has an interview with IBM engineers, offering some more insight into the technical details of the new PowerPC "G5" 970 processor, which is expected to ship in Apple's newest Power Macs next month. The article notes that IBM chose to base the 970's "AltiVec" unit on the older G4-style unit rather than the revised vector unit found in the more recent G4e processor.
