MS to release IE 5.2.3 for OS X later today
Microsoft later today will release Internet Explorer 5.2.3 for Mac OS X users, an update to its web browser. The update will offer security and performance enhancements, as well as improved browser compatibility for enterprise users who work on a network with secure authentication or with proxy servers, according to the MacBU. It will be made available as a free update on its Website, while Internet Explorer 5.1.7 for Mac OS 8/9 users will be available in the next month with similar security and performance improvements. On Friday, we noted that Microsoft is discontinuing future Mac development of IE: "We will, however, continue to support IE 5 and are sharing our compiled understanding of customer requirements with Apple's Safari team, who is working to meet Mac users' future browser needs."
