Tim Cook spotted being interviewed by NBC's Brian Williams
Earlier today, Apple CEO Tim Cook was seen giving a tour of the company's Grand Central Station store in New York City to NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams for what will be Cook's first major TV interview. The store, which opened almost exactly a year ago, is one of several US flagship stores and was the subject of investigations about how the deal -- which included unusual terms very favorable to Apple -- was conducted, though nothing has thus far come of them. The interview will air on the network's Rock Center program.

Observers report that Cook showed off the iPhone 5 and iPad mini during the tour, with the former the company's best-selling single product and the latter now catching up to demand in inventories. It's not known if this was Cook's first personal visit to the store, but he was also observed inspecting the layout and talking with employees, according to witnesses. He was later seen visiting another NYC Apple Store on 14th street, according to reports.

The conversation between Williams and Cook went on for quite some time, observers report, with Williams himself saying he had "spent the day" with the Apple CEO. It's not yet known if the interview focuses just on Apple's holiday lineup or is a broader piece looking at the CEO's first full year following the death of co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs in October of last year. The program, which will air at 10pm Eastern Time on December 6, will also feature an interview with The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson. [photos via NBC and TVNewser]
