Apple drops 'most powerful mapping service ever' claims
Apple has made a rare backtrack on some of its marketing, and dropped a claim about iOS 6 Maps being the "most powerful mapping service ever," reports note. Apple's website previously had a short blurb that read, "Designed by Apple from the ground up, Maps gives you turn-by-turn spoken directions, interactive 3D views, and the stunning Flyover feature. All of which may just make this app the most beautiful, powerful mapping service ever." The last sentence has now been changed to "All in a beautiful vector-based interface that scales and zooms with ease."

The switch reflects a statement by Apple CEO Tim Cook last week, in which he admitted that Apple had "fallen short" with an overhaul of Maps. The iOS 6 release completely ditches Google content, which has led to some inaccuracies, missing details and features, and badly-rendered graphics. Apple is in fact recommending third-party alternatives while it attempts to fix Maps' deficiencies.
