Pointers: Getting Things Done with Apple Gear, part 5: Review

08/27, 8:01am

If anyone ever manages to collate some statistics about Getting Things Done, the productivity cult (nee methodology) of David Allen, there are some figures that are certain to be there. For a start, the number of people who begin using GTD and give up will be high. Equally, though, the customer satisfaction rating for those who stick with it will be enormous. You can just bet, however, that a giant number of GTD users skip one feature. For once, software is not the brilliant help we've been saying it is all week: even To Do apps often leave out this part. Yet the Review is crucial to every single thing that is good about Getting Things Done.

Living With: freelance writing and Apple Music

08/26, 2:08pm

This is my 20th year of freelancing, I think. Could be 21st. Maybe 22nd. It's funny how leaving regular employment was a mountain when it was ahead of me, but not even a hill in retrospect. Whenever I did it, though, I've now had at least two decades of working from home, plus very often fitting in with many different offices. A week-long project in a book publisher's building, one day a week at a magazine's office, running mentoring sessions in people's homes, workshops at festivals, and once doing a thing in an abbey. Call me stupid, but it's taken the new Apple Music service to make me realize that across every place I went, I had to adapt to different attitudes to music.

Pointers: Getting Things Done with Apple Gear, part 4 -- Waiting

08/26, 10:49am

We assume you have lots. Continuing this week's special Pointers on Getting Things Done with Apple gear, it's time to meet those people who aren't doing this. Those people you depend upon who are not as organised as you. It's time to do what you can to at least stop them derailing all your good work.
