MicroGb: portable, pocket-size USB 2.0

WiebeTech on Monday will announce MicroGb, its pocket size, high-speed, portable USB 1.1/2.0 hard drive storage device, which according to the company, is "capable of transferring a gigabyte of data in less than 90 seconds." The pocket-size drive will be available in three storage capacities, including 20GB ($280), 30GB ($360), and 48GB ($680). Drives ship with an AC adapter and USB cable.

1GB in 90 sec??? I guess we're not talking about USB 1.1
Why is USB 2.0 still kicking around? By all accounts even the current firewire is better. USB 1.1 for keyboards and mice, sure OK, but for fast drives firewire is better. If they really want to make USB better, why not re-integrate it so as to make mice and keyboards functional on a more basic level? That way when your computer acts up you have a few more options that to reset.
