Apple debuted a new television ad yesterday titled Internet Gift. The 30-second spot features Jeff Goldblum, who discusses the merits of "giving the Internet" this holiday, and with it an iMac.

    glad the strike is over

now we can get commercials that actually talk about the products & features, instead of silly music that just says "hey, look at me, I'm pretty"

    um, questionable tagline

"Isn't it better to give than receive"...well, does that mean I'll be sorry to get an iMac? Hmmmm.

Am I the only one that wishes Chiat-Day would get off thier lazy asses and come up with a *good* commercial. Step one would be to kill off Jeff Goldblum, he's annoying as h***. Bring back the concepts used to make the Snail and the Steemroller commercials.
    Something with edge.

But then, It might just be that I can't stand Goldblum ;)

i rather like this incarnation of the think different campaign. people get a sense of FUN STUFF they can actually DO with their computers. if only they'd contrast it with all the things you CAN'T do when your windows machine goes down.....

    More "real" people

Apple needs to get some "real" people in its ads like the "real customers" *cough* in Gateway commercials who are almost talking about Macs (wanting to edit movies, computer for a teacher, download music off the Internet [illegally]).

I thought of a great quiz last week; Name the CEO of various Computer companies with Apple, DELL, Gateway, HP, IBM and the rest like Acer. See how many people actually *know* these people. DELL is kinda easy and Apple would be fairly easy.

Gateway? All I know is that they got some long-haired hippy flying around in a private jet (gee, Steve has a private jet and dresses down) asking people what they want to do with that illegal MP3/Movie collection.

    'nuff Jeff - more iMovie

I agree - this move to more on the stuff you can do is good! But an unvarying diet of Goldblum gets wearying. His iMovie commercial is just ok - gee, show an iMovie with some whiz-bang to it, with even too many special effects, show off what it can do! that plus more people and their iMovies (but hilarious ones, of course)! or, a spot or series with a scientist, an artist, an architect, a kid, and a grandma...

too much Jeff, not enough Apple.

uh, and to that list add "and an entrepeneur". maybe two. like that articulate minidisco.com guy. a bison farmer. some environmental startup.

chiat-day, how about a call for interesting mac users? if you're a charismatic physicist, a funny business owner, ... make it look good!
