Morning tech news: "EarthLink has earned Mobile Computing's "First Class Award" for the second year in a row for fast reliable Internet connections, as well as the company's move into the wireless Internet access space. Handspring and DataViz are offering Documents To Go for free via a mail-in rebate when purchased with a Handspring Visor through November 15, 2001; Excite@Home has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and says it will sell its broadband Internet operations to its controlling partner, AT&T, unless it receives a more lucrative offer.

    Expected but distressing

    Expected but a little distressing. Having formerly heard mixed reviews of ATT broadband services, I wonder how current users how found their services to their liking. Wondering, too, how this will effect we cox@home users which utilizes Excite@home portal.

    So Comcast will own @Home

    If you've been keeping up on this at all, you will also know that Comcast has been talking with AT+T about purchasing their broadband division. On Friday they signed a confidentiality agreement about it. Which means AT+T broadband aquires @Home, and Comcast cable aquires the whole shebang. I don't know what that means for competing cable companies like Cox and Insight that also offer @Home currently.

    Be sure to read the details for the free copy of Documents-To-Go. It much be purchased within 24 hours of the purchase of your Visor, and it has to be a retail boxed copy, not a downloadable version.
