Larry LeFebour writes "OS X 10.1 includes support for Sun's Java WebStart technology. Check out the developer page at Apple or the Sun's Java WebStart page to find out more. Basically, it allows for full Java apps to be launched from your browser that can be fully independent from the browser. Double-click on the 'Java Web Start' app in the 'Utilities' folder."

    this seems very cool

I messed around with this last night. The technology seems very cool. Maybe there will be a time for mainstream Java Applications if they can be distributed in this fashion.

At this time there are not many programs that I would want to run on WebStart (per list on SUN's site), but I did download a free secure FTP program and it functioned as it should.

If there are any good sources for WebStart programs please post them...
