    Instillation did not work

The instillation began, but the installer said "file not found:" with nothing after the colon. Support suggested I re-install 9.0 and then immediately upgrade, which I will do tomorrow.

so far no upgrade for me.

    Installation didn't work

Told me "The default install location could not be found" and then quits. Hmm... such a big download, such a disappointing experience! Adobe's usually REALLY good about their upgrades -- this is the first time I've had any problems with one of their updater files.

    Corrupt installer

I did get the 9.0.1 updater to download but both times it was corrupt and would not open. Having DSL made it a bit less painful to endure...

    Broken Installer!

Restarted and tried to install but got the "file not found" error. Tried moving my Illustrator folder to the root of the hard drive but that didn't work. Adobe needs to fix the installer or provide additional instructions in the 'read me' file to fix.

    A mixed result...

    My experience downloading with IE5:
Tried to download and got an error; tried again, got an error; deleted second attempt from download manager; openned first attempt up, clicked reload button and magic.

    My experience installing:
Upgrading 9 copies and have attempted on 3 copies so far; first 2, a success; third machine to upgrade I got that "file not found:" error. I didn't have time to reinstall. Frustrated and so will be the designers if I don't get their AI9 upgraded.

    worked fine

I did not use the link provided here. It was coming in only at 9K/sec . . . slow.

Went to Adobe.com and followed the link from the front.

    varied 30K-116K/sec

    Installed with no problems.
Only noticed a very small increase in speed, but it could've been my imagination.
Too afraid to try it at home.

    Successful Download

I had used Fetch to grab the update from Adobe's FTP server and it worked fine on the first shot (albiet with a slow download, 10 - 12K/sec -- their servers were getting hammered).

Big speed improvement when working in outline view on a G4 400. Now I need to read that PDF to see if it expressly says what's been AltiVec enhanced : )

I've seen that "file not found" issue on Adobe installers before when the program to be updated wasn't on the boot drive. Could be something to try if that's the case here.

    Renamed app folder?

The updater may also have trouble if the name of the 9.0 installation folder was changed from the original name of "Adobe Illustrator® 9.0" or the name of any files changed (including the app from "Adobe Illustrator® 9.0") after install of 9.0. Try changing them back or reinstalling 9.0.

    Should I buy AI 9?

I'm thinking about buying AI for personal use. And was wondering if AI is worth buying. I never knew that there were 500 bugs!! And I don't want a program to cause my Mac problems. So should I buy AI or no or should I wait? Also how easy is it to use?

    Please help!

    AI 9.01

okay, people, just type in ftp://ftp.adobe.com into your web browser, and start hunting around (it's in the "pub" directory).

installed, and fixed all of the bugs that i had noticed/heard reported. it is now, quite definitely, worth the price of admission (i would not say that pre-9.01).

    just my 2 cents
