Digidesign ships free Pro Tools 5.2 update

Digidesign's professional music production software Pro Tools 5.2, now shipping, features a new DigiStudio Internet collaboration environment, is now available as a free download for registered Pro Tools 5.1 users.

DigiStudio, an Internet-based virtual recording environment, allows sharing of multi-channel surround tracks and plug-in information between Pro Tools sessions. Pro Tools 5.2 also integrates with DigiProNet with Internet-enabled audio production services, including AudioMarket, an online directory/shop for downloadable music, sound effects and samples as well as Avid's Review & Approval, radio spot distribution, message boards and industry news.

Pro Tools 5.2 software is supported on Macintosh Pro Tools TDM systems only, at this time and the company recommends installing the free Pro Tools 5.1.1 update before installing the free Pro Tools 5.2 update.

    Pro Tools

    Pro Tools is definitely an awesome system. Personally I use Logic Audio because of its MIDI sequencing and power over Environment settings, but I've heard great things about Pro Tools. Problem is, to use the full power of a Pro Tools system you have to have a lot of very specific and expensive DigiDesign hardware.

    Get to it

    ProTools is the industry standard recording software in digital recording studios in america. Over 90% of the large recording studios in America have at least 1 protools rig. This is why digidesign needs to get there a** in gear and whip up a carbonized version of ProTools. My studio is running ProTools LE and I and many others refuse to switch to X until protools is released for it. Ill just stick with 9 for the time being. P.S. 5.2 is a good step forward, ideas like digipronet are very new and inspiring and will keep people using ProTools.
