The Motley Fool is running a "Dueling Fools" article entitled "Apple Core of Ailing PC Sector." The report pits Rick Aristotle Munarriz as the Bull, arguing that Apple's prospects are bright, while Paul Larson is the Bear, arguing that Apple is headed down the tubes as part of the current technology slump. The article asks " Is Apple 'different' enough to stand out in a moribund industry?"

    s**** the Fool

I used to listen to those twerps on the radio quite often, and everytime Apple, or Jobs would come up, they would make all kinds of ridiculous comments. They've been talking the company down for years.

I remember at the last iMac revision, they made some remark about how "Jobs thinks he can introduce new color schemes and save the world."

Plus, that "Bear" viewpoint is hardly bearish. It's quite obvious the guy doesn't know jack. How does he point out Apple's contributions?

"Next time you're surfing on your clone and watch a QuickTime video, thank Apple."

puhhhhhleeease. I'm so damn tired of these "Apple is going down the tubes" arguements. They're just bitter because all the beige box makers are cutting each other's throats, burning up billions of investor's cash, and Apple has a front row seat for the death match.

Merge away you soulless Wintel dogs. I'll be toasting a big glass of champagne the day that Gateway is put out to pasture.

Who cares? These "Apple will win" "Apple will lose" scenarios are getting so bloody long in the tooth. It would be nice to come across an article that actually brought a new and interesting subject to the table and not just more of this kind of c***.

    It is pretty old...

They must have run through some 1997 magazines to come up with a great article idea like that!

I think alot of "IT experts" are still crying the Apple will go broke tale because they made the claim 5 years ago and don't want to say "wow, I was wrong".

This is high school rubbish, grow up "IT Gurus"

    AppleStores a winner

I expect that Apple will do really well this year, building market share, and delivering good profits. I think the Applestores will be the cause of this because it's given them a physical presence, and one they have complete control over, unlike the CompUSA sitch, where some staff actively dissuade customers from Apple Machines.

These shootouts are worth zilch in terms of any quantitive assesments, and are really just two old farts talking out of their arse.
