MacNN reader John Linthicum has sent us a photo from a high school in Henrico County, Virginia, where Steve Jobs recently visited to deliver 23,000 iBooks ordered by the state's school system. An announcement board in the picture reads "Charge those iBooks!"

    Fixed iBooks

I sure hope that the majority of those 23,000 are the "fixed" iBooks. We've had countless problems w/ our gleaming white iBook. First, fresh out of the box, the screen was scuffed up. Returned it and the next 2 we inspected at the store had the exact same scuff marks. The 3rd was OK. Then, 1-2 weeks later, the notorious firmware bug sprang up and deep sixed the hard disk. We restored from a backup, luckily, but not every user in the world has the resources to maintain backups, right? And now, a few months later, the trackpad bug has cropped up making it virtually unusable unless we connect a mouse.
We've been a long-time Apple loyalist dating back to the days of the Apple //c and ///. But lately, Apple's QA leaves MUCH to be desired. Oh well... off to the support line...

    Fixed?

    "fixed" iBooks?
    the notorious firmware bug?
    the trackpad bug?

I've not had or heard of these iBook problems.
    Anyone care to elaborate?

    re: Fixed?

There's no elaboration to be made. This person has been simply unlucky and has decided that a great number of iBooks are flawed when it is patently obvious that this is NOT so.

    I don't get it

What is the point of the link in this story. It takes you to a pic of the school sign. So what.

Oh, and by the way. Is that really a post by the wlonh?

Yeah, my iBook has been my best behaving Mac ever (knock on wood). And that's after 8 Macs.

Oh, I just realized I get to be today. That's kinda strange...

    Damn John

d00d, they seem to be busting you pretty good. What kind of news do you expect on Labor day?

So, if this is the "Runner up", which post beat it out?
