Apple will be hosting the grand opening of its Boston-area Apple Retail Store location in Northshore "this weekend," (September 1st) according to an email from the company sent to select local residents. The first 1000 customers at the grand-opening, which begins at 9 am Saturday morning, will receive a free commemorative Apple T-shirt. (We previously noted that there will be a grand opening of the Chicago Retail Store in Woodfield tomorrow morning as well.) [updated]

    Tomorrow or Sept 1st?

The email, received today by many MacNN readers, notes "this Saturday" as the opening date, however, a specific date is not given, leading many to believe it may not open until Sept 1.

    Any thoughts/ideas?

Anyone know if Apple plan to open a retail store in the evil empire's heartland, Seattle?

    Woodfield Apple Store

A salesperson at the Apple Woodfield store (Chicago) stated that over 800 people were in line waiting to get into the store at 9am when it opened. I believe him; I had to wait almost 40 minutes to get into the store at 11:30. It looked like a grand success, with free t-shirts and Apple notebooks for all. Thanks Apple.
