Iomega today announced that it is now shipping its FireWire adapter for the Zip 250 USB drive. The adapter, which connects to the ATAPI port, more than doubles the read speed of the Zip 250 USB from 0.9 MB/sec to 2.0 MB/sec. Additionally, the FireWire port on a Mac or PC can supply power to the drive, eliminating the need for a power supply. The $80 adapter should be available later today from IomegaDirect.
