Medea Corporation has introduced VideoRaid FCR and VideoRack FCR, two new RAID storage systems designed as local storage for single workstations or as a storage solution for digital content creation workgroups.
Medea FCR disk arrays feature a SAN_Ready fibre channel interface that enables the 5-drive desktop units to sustain up to 95 MB/second. Both products are optimized with Medea's Multi-Stream Technology, an adaptive caching technology that analyzes the request of the host and dynamically configrues the array's on-board cache for efficiency. Medea FCR arrays spport playback of up to 3 uncompressed video streams in realtime.
In the unlikely event of a disk drive failure, the system will continue to operate with no less of data and no degradation in data transfer rate. Requiring no third party software of complicated configuration, VideoRaid FCR and each channel of VideoRack FCR appear to any Mac, SGI, Sun, or Windows-based workstation as one large fibre channel disk drive with a single loop ID. Medea FCR storage can be scaled to over 37 TBequal to over 400 hours of uncompressed video footage.
The 5-drive VideoRaid FCR will be available in 160 GB, 240 GB and 300 GB capacities with list prices starting at $4,676. Both the VideoRaid FCR and VideoRack FCR will be available in September.
