Apple hires Kerris, former Maya director

Macworld UK reports that Apple has hired Richard Kerris, former director of Maya Technologies at Alias|Wavefront, as director of developer strategies. Kerris, who was the driving force behind the Mac OS X port of Maya, will report to Ron Okamoto, VP of worldwide developer relations.

    A shooter

    Kerris seems to be a real shooter - he's got the look and feel of a good mix between corporate PR guy and techie - not unlike Jobs. Let's see how he works with the developer community. I'll bet we'll be seeing him on stage introducing application presenters, perhaps replacing Phil S., who I'm sure is a nice guy but lacks the polish of Kerris and Jobs.

    now if this aint awesome news, then what is ?

    Kerris will surely help Apple to make the right decisions (in time) to please the highend market as of visual media. Hopefully this includes nice relations to companies like Discreet - which IMHO have been rather lousy on the macOSX front. Would be nice to have Flame running on a G5/OSX...someday =)

    nevermind, time will tell what this dude is up to...or Apple.
