    Let me see ...

... if I have this right.

*Microsoft* is co-sponsoring a Digital Art Show in which NO Windows-created graphics are being shown? :)

Note to Windows-based "graphic artists" ... get with the program!!

    Apple Shoots Self In Foot

That's nuts, that's like saying only paintings made with such-and-so brand oil paint can be in a show. What the heck does it have to with creativity? Apple has no monopoly on creative tools, far from it. They don't even write the software except for one package, FCP. I don't see how this kind of corporate pettiness can do anything but give Apple a black eye, like they're afraid to let anyone think there are alternatives.

    WE'VE GOT BIGGER GAMUTS!

The mac has far superior colour. colour management on the PC is a joke, I'm not trying to dis anyone's choice of OS, it's just a fact that the windows colour space is shite. sRGB isn't good enough for anything. Colours appear too dark on windows. I could go on. I think the reason Microsoft are involved is a simple case of sponsorship and nothing more.

    Limits of 'superiority'

I guess you have never worked on Windows. I have worked as a professional digital designer on macs for 12-years, and Windows for 7. The mac is better for high-end color printing. Otherwise I find no significant difference for creating 'digital art'. In any case, I think it is inappropriate for Apple the company to impose this rather silly and transparently selfish condition for sponsorship. Microsoft has done (and still does) many evil things, but at least in this one instance it has shown better judgement. Apple just comes off looking insecure, which I guess it has every reason to be.
