Has anyone tried this software with a Stylus Scan 2500? It says works with most Epson scanners.

    Publicity Stunt!

Last week Hamrick said no way, no how will I do any more Mac software, then 2 days later "relented" due to public outcry. Today he delivers a new version. I think the news sites were played for fools and just gave him good cheap publicity and recognition.

    Update only for pir8s?

    Does it really say:

"support for FireWire scanners and FireWire-to-SCSI converters on Mac OS X 10.1"

Er, but no one has Mac OS X 10.1 ;)

    no ...

... he means it will continue to work when 10.1 is released. Developers already have versions of 10.1, duh!

I think your right:. But he's right too; the best way to get publicity on the net is by getting people to write about you. Banners are more expensive and (most of the time) ignored.

    You need 10.1

Oddly the link on the MacNN page takes you to version 7.1.9 which I downloaded last night. I could not get it to work so followed the directions for getting help and here is the reply:

In a message dated 8/6/2001 9:36:24 PM EST, scottts writes:

I am using a Umax Astra 6400 Firewire scanner on
    MacOSX 10.0.4.

You need Mac OS X 10.1 for this to work.

    Regards,
    Ed Hamrick

So, the answer is yes, you need to wait till 10.1 to use firewire scanners with VueScan.
