    TechTV Mac obsession?

Why is TechTV suddently so concerned with the Mac platform, and offering silly comparisons that have been argued for years?

    PC Desperation

"PCs can address the needs of a wider audience"

What kind of vague nonsense is this? What does it even mean? What audience is the Mac necglecting? Shall we name a few audiences that are poorly served by PCs?

"applications like MS Office (love it or hate it, it's the most popular application), appear later on the Mac."

OK, let's just ignor the fact that Office '98 is better than Office '97, 200, and XP and Office 2001 is even better than that.

"Is it time to upgrade? Do you want a faster burner or the latest video card? Mac users are likely to hit a brick wall. "

I can't get the latest video card? Really? I'm pretty sure that's a lie.

"Don't expect cutting-edge peripherals in the Mac platform. "

This comment is just silly. Pure fantasy.

    this comparison sucks

the pros and cons for each platform is really silly, they dont dig enough to bring the real pros and cons, except maybe the price...
plus the performance test is really stupid too ! they test only one app, and it's Photoshop which is the *ONLY* altivec enhanced mac program. And there's no table to make the results readable...

plus many many nonsenses I dont want talk about cause i dont wanna waiste my time with ...

    another "great" article

Choi got demolished in the showdown, but the article still sided with the PC.
Choi admitted instability with 95/98/me and said w2k and the upcoming xp will be very stable, but how many folks will actually use win2k.

    nice call.....

"Stability is an important feature that Windows just doesn't have. The average user can counter the instability by saving often. "

    Yeah, SURE

"PCs are everywhere. It is the box of choice for most corporations. It can't hurt to learn the ins and outs of both, but focus on the PC."

Gee, who would have thought it would have ended with THAT conclusion? :) TechTV has ALWAYS sucked when it comes to an unbiased opinion of the Mac. I'm sure their little report is making me think about going out and buying a PC now. NOT!!!!!

    CUtting edge devices

The article says Macs do not have cutting edge peripherals. Really, I've had a Toshiba Combo-Drive in my G4 (DVD-CDRW) since last August everything works out of the box never installed any drivers. Apple's drivers work great. Am I mistaken? Doesn't the G4 come with the N'Vidia GF3 as an option, when most PC manufacturers still do not have this option.

A Mac is no different than a PC when it comes to hardware expansion. If Apple drivers do not support it the drivers just need to be written. (BTW,When you buy a peripheral like a mouse or joystick that is not Mac specific fill out the registration card and write in that it is being used on a Mac. Companies like to know they have another market.)

IMHO, Apple or a mag like MacAddict should get a grass roots effort started to find all devices that work with their system without third party drivers and post them in a compatibility list and those that do not either make the drivers or persuade the company to do so.

    Silly

It's a followup to all the hits they probably got when they posted that benchmark video a week or so ago. Nothing more. They're trying to stir the mud, once again, just like everyone else does.

And as usual, it's full of stupid, ignorant comments.
