Berkley Integrated Audio Software has posted Peak 2.6.1, a free update to registered users of BIAS Peak LE 2.5 or 2.6, Peak VST 2.6 or Peak TDM 2.6, its application for editing and processing audio. (Last week the company announced OS X support for both Peak and Deck, previewing an OS X-compatible version of Peak at the Expo. Peak for OS X is due later this year, while a Carbonized version of BIAS Deck, its multitrack audio editing, mixing, and signal processing program, is due "soon after the Peak release."

    Excellent.

Both Peak and Deck are mainstays of my audio toolkit. Kudos to the Bias people for this.

    More $$$?

I wonder how much the OS X Peak update will cost. Is till can't believe that 2.6 is a PAID upgrade from 2.5. Oh well. I'm sure the OS X update will be even more money. Compare this to magic's Logic, where you get free updates forever, it seems.

I am actually much more excited about Logic 5 for OS X than Peak (or Deck, which is useless to me as I am mostly in the virtual instrument realm). However, if Core Audio will allow me to use Peak in conjunction with Logic 5, I will be REALLY delighted!

    Re: SoundEdit 16

I used to like that program... I like it better then Peak for some things, but Macromedia dropped it.. it never even worked well with OS 8. I haven't tried it with 9.1, but I think it's obvious there will never be an update.
