Apple has updated its Macworld New York coverage page, which now offers (among other things) an article that discusses Office 10 and shows some screenshots that show off the use of Quartz in Microsoft's new version of Office.

    Enough already!!!

Has anyone else had enough of all these "first post" and "are belong to us" posts?!? (Not to mention, those posts that combine the two tired, overused, old, waste-of-bandwidth, juvenile, approaches to leaving feedback.)

BTW - osx.macnn.com - you're a little behind on the news there, I think I saw that on the Apple site a couple of days ago.

Having said that, despite my general distaste for M$, I have to say I'm really looking forward to Office10's arrival... working in a mixed environment, I've learned to use, and even like Office 2001. The MacBU is doing some pretty good work. Office10 will allow me to be almost Classic-free!

    smooth & creamy

Kudos Mac Business Unit for doing Office 10 as an X-only app. Time to squeeze Mr. Mac User into his new space suit. "Classic" be banished into a distant memory. All Hail the Standard Distribution!

    Portability and Outlook

I want my PowerPoint presentations to be portable - I need to be able to send them to windows people and have them work. Quicktime export is not helpful for business (big files, non-standard, audience are more likely to have ppt than qt) and looks like c***.

Fonts and animations create serious PPT h*** today. I have taken to testing, and often reworking, slides on a PC before I can send them. That sucks big time.

Also, GIVE US REAL OUTLOOK (not this illegal anticompetitive entourage/outlook bs), features and let us sync to Pocket PCs.

Mac users are serious business users - we need the same tools as Windows Users.

(Office XP and XP messenger are likely to be the real weakness of the Mac - not lack of transparency in Office - who asked for transparency?)

How about putting the spell checker into text fields in IE?

    Anti-aliasing

What struck me was that they said they anti-aliased the icons for a sharper look. It's my understanding that anti-aliasing actually averages the pixels to seemingly create a higher resolution image with less sharpening, thus anti-aliased images can appear blurry. Compare the new printer icon with the old for instance and you'll see which is sharper.

Kudos to MSMBU for the new Office 10 though.

    Killer app

Thats what Office 10 will be... the first killer app for OS X!

entourage blows chuncky chuncks as does Outlook Express. (oh MS does produce a version of Outlook (the fine and dandy outlook for 9.x)

first posters and belongs to us poster must die a traitors death!

    Re: Outlook

Yes, Micro$haft does produce a version for OS 9.x, but have you tried it? All you can do with it is connect to an Exchange server. With the PeeCee version, not only can I connect to my Exchange server at work, but I can connect to my Internet e-mail, old M$-mail networks, but my handheld, and a plethora of other types of networks as well.

Outlook for Mac was a huge step forward over the old Exchange client (no calendar support, etc.) but is still doesn't offer the same benefits as Outlook for PeeCee.

And don't me started on that POS otherwise known as Entouage.
