Several readers have dropped us a note that their new "QuickSilver" Power Mac G4s are arriving loaded with Mac OS 9.2. Insiders report that the new operating system's primary purpose is to add support for the new machines, which will not run OS 9.1 and earlier OS versions. In addition, OS 9.2 improves its stability and performance when used as the Classic environment of Mac OS X.

    Any point 9.2 on others?

Would there be any advantage to installing 9.2 on machines earlier than QuickSilver G4s?

    Performance? Bug fixes?

    NEW AppleInsider Forums!

Miss the AppleInsider boards? I do. New boards with the same categories are up at http://www.badflamingo.com

These boards have the ability to handle the traffic and will not be constantly down like the AppleInsider boards or turn you away due to high server loads like the MacNN Forums!

So let the predictions, conspiracy theories and constant bickering of the AppleInsider message boards continue. The boards are brand new and are currently empty which means that you should sign up your username before anyone else does and be one of the first to post! If you start posting, everyone will follow!

also, everyone who registers and makes 5 posts before August 15 will be entered in a drawing for an amazon.com gift certificate.. check it out and get your username before someone else snags it!

    Who cares?

Who cares if it's as bad as spam? The AI boards royally suck, there's no doubt about it. I haven't been able to get into them in over a month. These badflamingo forums ROCK!!!

    huh?

What do you mean as bad as spam? It *is* spam. Just because it's not in your email box doesn't mean it's something different. :)

It looks great... but I see two problems the hole for a speaker... Which looks nice but Apple will either have to fix a lot of speakers or not cover them under apple care...

    Does anyone else ...

... think these comment areas are pointless? I hate how they post the intro to a story that is actually on someone else's site. I wish these dumb links would go where I wanted instead of here.
