    Aaaannyway..onto Jane...

I swear, I can't get it to connect to a MySQL datasource. It should be easier than this (I can even get Phakt to work with PHP3 and 4, but not this?!) Plus it still can't do joins or more complex queries. For $99, I do expect something different, I guess.

    Looks pre-release

Mac OS X Beta didn't do as much as 10.0.x and 10.1 will do even more. Software evolves incrementally based on feedback and commited resources.

If no one says "add joins and more complex queries" to the developer, they might get to it. If no one at all buys it, then why bother spending time and effort on making the product at all.

I am sure many internal vertical-ware solutions have cropped up precisely because no one had ever made such a solution and released it to the public at large thereby filling the function gap.

If you would rather not have ANY Mac software at all instead of people's ideas turned into reality like JaneBuilder, then get Windoze on a DELL already and sit back down and be quiet.

    Annoying

    You presume too much.

I have written SeeJaneCode previously about Joins, with only an automated reply. I've since written them again inquiring about how to contact my Linux server with their software. I can only guess that since they are busy with Jane development, thye do not respond to email. As noble as that scenario may be, it's still not helpful and not at all how I would care to spend $100.

There are other Mac applications (Phakt, for instance) that do work. I helped with the Macintosh part on Phakt, which is free software used with Dreamweaver Ultradev. I prefer Jane's interface, but that's about it right now.

Your comments on the validity of my opinions are ignorant and useless. "Windoze" and "Dell" indeed - if I don't think something's a fair and useful package, I'm relagated to the "Dark side"? Let me guess - you're a Republican, aren't you?

Unlike your closed mind, no one here has to "sit down and be quiet", especially since it's a free and open markeplace. If I comment on the software, don't presume the worst ... try to attempt to share your knowledge or experience (which is what I have done).

And if I don't like it, I've every right to say so, no matter how your small, limited mind would react to it. If your sense of relality is challenged with this, good - sounds like you need a wake-up call.

The Macintosh doesn't need developers who charge alot for applications that don't work well, and don't offer any support. That's how we got our "zealot" monikers to begin with...following blindly any solution, and while chanting that it's the one, true way, defending bad solutions with zeal.

I hope JaneBuilder gets better. I hope they learn to read and respond to their email. I hope they add more complex actions than single-table queries before charging $100 for what can be done for free elsewhere. I'll wait and see.
