OpenOSX releases Unix apps for Mac OS X

OpenOSX is now offering 5 CDs containing popular Unix applications that can be simply installed and configured on Mac OS X without entering a single "UNIX" command. Costing $30 each, the 5 products available include:

  • GIMP 1.2.1 - Gnu Image Manipulation Program is the open-source alternative to Adobe Photoshop. The installer includes extra fonts, patterns and brushes and complete documentation in both HTML and PDF.
  • Grass 5.0 pre1 - Grass is an open-source Geographical Information System (GIS).
  • OpenBase 1.0 - OpenBase 1.0 includes full installation and configuration of MySQL 3.23.39, unixODBC 2.0.7, BerkeleyDB and InnoDB for Mac OS X. For MySQL administration, the CD will optionally install and configure Apache Web Server, PHP 4.0.6 and phpMyAdmin 2.2.0rc1.
  • OpenWeb 1.0 - OpenWeb 1.0 includes Apache Web Server with PHP 4.06 and SSL. It also includes phpShop 0.9.3, a shopping cart solution configured with mySQL, and an optional install of phpMyAdmin, a Web-based graphical front-end.
  • XFree86 4.1.99 - XFree86 4.1.99 installs the X-Windows implementation as well as the Orobus window manager configured with the "Agua" interface.
