    Good News

I'm glad that NVIDIA has given ATI a kick in the butt to get more products moving to Mac. NVIDIA's current offering in the Mac market is mediocre at best. In most games, the Radeon falls only 2 or 3 fps short of the GeForce3. That's really sad. As soon as ATI gets the R200 on the market, that's where my money is going.

    Huh?

Which is it? "...now shipping..." or September? I think you mean that ATI has ANNOUNCED the Radeon VE, right? [It's all in the details...]

    Pricing difference

The Windows version is $99, yet we Mac users have to pay $130? Why the big price difference for the same card? PC version has teh exact same ports and specs. Then they wonder why the products don't sell or we buy the PC version and flash rom it.

    Radeon VE

It won't fit in the Cube, according to the FAQ at ATI. I guess Apple could make a version, if they feel like it. (Not that I believe THAT...)

Shipping in September. I guess that means it'll take the low-end when the Radeon2 enters the scene. Seems like a really nice deal with GF3/Radeon2 + Radeon VE.

It would be nice if someone made a true high-end card for pro Maya etc.

    sick of it

I 100% agree with the above post. I am extremely sick of paying a premium just to get mac compatibility. As soon as I hear a success story for flashing the ROM for a PC Radeon, I'll do it too.

    Radeon VE is PCI only

According to the spec page on ATI's website (as well as everything else I've heard) the Radeon VE only comes in a PCI card version. There is no AGP version, so quite obviously, it won't work in a Cube. Most computers with AGP slots already have a comparable or better video card than the VE, so they aren't bothering to make an AGP version. Instead, they are targeting those with older PCI cards to be replaced or as a supplement to the AGP card in newer systems.

    Awesome

ATI is giving users a great choice in products... within several months Mac users will be able to by a low end card (R VE), a mid range (Radeon) and a GeForce 3 killer the Radeon 2.

Hopefully Jobs doesn't actually hold a childish gruge against ATI, and gets some of there products in the G4.
