Painter 7 is the first tool from Corel to be launched under the new "procreate" mantra the company will use to promote its digital imaging applications. Painter 7 will be fully Carbonized, and available in a Classic version when it debuts in August for $199. New features include watercolor technology, liquid ink, and an aqua interface.

    hope 7 is better

    new "Technology"

    I'm always amused by the idiotic marketing buzzword usage of the word "technology" to describe some software feature, but "watercolour technology" is surely a new low. ;)

    I picked up some natural ochre last year that bubbles up through the ground near Banff, and that native people had used to watercolour paint with for the last few thousand years. I wonder if they hyped up the village for the yearly ochre trek by talking about the great "technology" that it would fuel.

    I was worried for Painter's survival when Corel bought it a few years ago, but now I feel much better. Offering both X and Classic versions is a very good sign. Painter is an awesome program, so I'm hoping for the best!

    Painter Upgrades

    I love Painter too. Haven't upgraded since version 5. Very cool that it's coming to X.

    Bryce 5, btw, runs very nicely on X. Another cool program.
