    where is the firewire

port located? It can't be the mezzanine, since it supports Rev A-D.

    Firewire port location

Theres a blank plate somewhere on the machine - I cant remember where, but thats a place for the Firewire port.
Maybe they supply a drill to cut a hole in the side.....

    FireWire Port

From what my sources say, the product will most likely ship with a new side plate that includes a port for the FireWire connection. It will be located above the Ethernet port.

    thanks guys

Wow, my little Bondi Rev A will finally be able to run OSX the way I would like it. Thanks to whoever came up with this idea, but MORE to the guy who got the price point.

You figure you can get a used early rev iMac for under $500 and then stick in this upgrade and have a pretty good machine for under a grand. Too bad about the video card though.

Why not just buy a newer iMac?

    Yay

Good, the first ATA/100 card, and it's reasonably priced. Way to go Sonnet!

(Anyone think this will mean the new G4s will have ATA/100 on board?)

    too expensive

seeing as they list "promise" and "firmtech" as development partners of the ATA/100 card I'm guessing it's just a promise ATA/100 card (a RAID version of it is about £80 and the card it's no doubt based on is only £32 and that's with TAX included!) with some mac firmware, the sonnet logo on it and a hefty price tag.

I wonder if anyone's ever managed to hack the rom on a Promise ATA card to save themselves a fortune!!!

I'm glad they're out though, all we need now is IBM to increase the speed of the deskstar drives from 40Mb/s to 100Mb/s and ATA/100 cards will be more than just an investment for the future.

I'll definately be getting one when the RAID version comes out!
