IK Multimedia has released SampleTank Free Piano, a limited, freeware version of SampleTank, a software sound module which combines a sophisticated sampler/synth engine with hundreds of high quality multisampled sounds, into a VST instrument. It plays a single instrument, the smallest grand-piano included in the full version.

    Version for Mac OS X?

    Will there be one? It seems that anything being released now, should be released with at least a Carbonized version. Or does this have to wait for the documentation on Core Audio/MIDI from Apple?

    free, but...

    you have to register it to receive an activation code for it (by email)... i completely understand why software developers do this, but i don't like it even a little bit and did not try this thing because of it.

    Quicktime MIDI?

    Is there any way to get this thing to work for simple MIDI playback in QuickTime?

    That's what Hotmail accounts are for! Set one up, use that account alone for registering software, or sites you don't particularly wish to be spammed from, and you'll never have to worry about getting junque in your normal mail box.
