Runtime Revolution has announced the release of Revolution 1.0, a new rapid application development system for Mac OS, Windows, Linux, and other popular UNIX systems.

Promising quick development of applications that can be deployed cross-platform without changes to code, Revolution features robust multimedia support, support for a variety of Internet protocols, associative arrays and other text-handling features, and native appearance and behavior on all platforms. Enhancements planned for later this summer include built-in database access, Mac OS X support, K-12 teaching material and extended support for Internet protocols. A Starter Kit Edition, which limits the amount and complexity of code, is available for free while Standard and Professional Editions start at $350. K-12 educational pricing starts at $25 (minimim purchase of 10 copies).
