Tech: AOL/Time Warner threatens AIM clones

Evening tech news: AOL is pursuing legal threats against more AIM clones as it tries to keep a hold on the clients that access its industry-leading messenging service; iVillage, the women-oriented Web site that recently completed its merger with former rival Women.com, plans to cut nearly half its staff; Toshiba has admitted that it purposely postponed its introduction of new consumer notebooks in the second quarter until the third quarter given the poor climate for PCs; and a top official at the CIA told Congress that despite a major increase in intelligence efforts dedicated to computer security, hackers are developing new tools and techniques faster than it can keep up.
