Blizzard admits mistakes in Diablo II patch
updated 06:10 pm EDT, Thu June 21, 2001
The Diablo II 1.08 patch, which was released earlier this week, contained some changes that were intended only for the expansion set, according to Blizzard. Those changes include the adjusted levels, hit points, damage, attack rating, defense rating, and experience of monsters in Nightmare and Hell difficulties, the global bonus to Damage Resistance for monsters in Hell difficulty, gold sharing when in a party, and the new calculation for blocking that places an emphasis on dexterity. These unintended changes will be reversed in a server-side patch in the next few days.

well, i guess if 95% of the user base is up in arms, and spamming every available blizzard contact with flames, they would have no choice but to decide that the 1.0.8 patch included some 'unintended' features. Make no mistake, the features that were 'unintended' were confirmed in a response to one of my more polite posts to blizzard, were "carefully considered" and were included to give game play "balance".
Hurrah to Blizzard for making the brave choice, and listening to its users, and hurrah to the Diabloids for pressing Blizzard hard enough to have them step back from their position.
