    Ridiculous

And that's what they call "supporting older Macs"?
All they did is simplify the installation process of Ryan Rempel. They did not even add support for USB cards on pre-G3 Macs under OS X.
It took them three months to do what Ryan did in a day.
    What a joke!

    Ridiculous?

Let me get this straight: "That's *ALL* they did?"

If what Ryan did was so easy, he should have packaged a solution (and still can) for $15 for the *millions* of pre-G3 Macs being used in professional institutions who will not move to X without a *simplified* installation, and thus undercut Sonnet and still make a killing.

Should Sonnet charge $30, when they had previously led everyone to believe they would support it as part of an upgrade purchase? I don't know. I think they know that the market is already saturated, very few new upgrades will be sold (compared to past years), and this is just a way they can (and will) make a nice profit in a slumping industry that already killed several other (poorly run) upgrade companies, including the grandaddy of them all (NewerTech).

Ah, Capitalism. The freedom to make money in a market that is identified. What a concept.

    Sonnet vs. free

X installer patches, free or not, will only work on a 'case by case' basis. I have a 9600 with a Sonnet card and cannot get either patch (Sonnet's or Ryan's) to work . You get what you pay for -- or not.
