After introducing its iBook screen protector last week, JR Hill & Co. is now shipping the iBook screen protector and PowerBook G4 screen protector in a variety of colors, including black, blue, green, and red. The $12.50 full grain leather protectors are designed to be "placed over the keyboard to protect the screen from keyboard dirt and scratches." The $12.50 protectors are available in custom sizes with custom embossing. [updated]

    HMMM

fairly good idea, my friend with a Power Book G4 has been using a thin piece of styrofoam on his. thats what apple puts on theirs before they send it out. this just seems like more of a pretty way to solve the problem, i dont know if itll actually do anything BETTER.

    Dumb product!!

This site must have a piece of this little company. I have never seen more screen time about such an insignificant piece of "technology." Big deal, a piece of cowhide to protect your screen. Any piece of fabric would suffice.

Perhaps I should introduce multi-colored paperclips to reboot Powerbooks. I could sell them for $12.99 a piece!

    product w/o a market

the only reason the product is needed for the powerbook is due to the keyboard rubbing the screen. the screen of an ibook does not come close to the keyboard when closed.

perhaps they should start marketing snowshoes in texas next.

    product WITH a market

We are selling the iBook version because we received hundreds of emails from iBook owners asking for a smaller iBook Screen Protector. So you see, there is a market out there. How come some posters in here think they know everything? Its baffling.

    Yep

Yeah MacNN must have some sort of a tie in if a person from the company posts on the message boards so fast. I REALLY DOUBT "HUNDREDS" OF PEOPLE REQUESTED A $13 PIECE OF CLOTH. SAVE YOUR MONEY PEOPLE - OR DONATE IT TO CHARITY

    Too FAT

I bought one of these things for my TiBook and found that the leather was too thick to easily close the lid cover. I had to PUSH on the lid to get it the latch to work correctly. It seemed like there was a bit too much pressure on the latch and the screen

I've been using a sheet of acetate for screen protection and it works perfectly.

    For what it's worth...

My Dell Latitude notebook provided to me by my employer also gets keyboard marks on the screen. It's not just an Apple problem.

Do i think it's worth USD$13 for a piece of washable suede to protect the screen?

    Probably not.

    TOO BIG

Big scam. It is TOO THICK for the TiBook. You really do have to push it closed very hard. Seems like it is a strain on the latch.
