    Nice

I don't even need a CD-RW drive or have a FireWire port (only iMac model sold last fall without one - saving cash) but I still started salivating when I saw this one. That is insane abilities! If it works with iTunes and DiscBurner I will have to put this on my "Things to buy after a G4" list.

    CD-Copying

Is there any CD-ROM that reads 3600k per second?

    3600k/sec

3600k/sec is a 24x drive, like the iMac came with. If youwere going to burn at 24x from another CD, youwould want at least a 24x reader. I have seen 52x CD-ROM drives out there, and most DVD/CD drives read CD's at 32 or 40x.

    one problem though

is when they rate cd-roms they rate the PEAK speed I think. Average speed is about half that. Except for the Kenwood truex cd-roms, those average the rated speed because there's 7 lasers.

    If I remember everything correctly.

    Save your money

Buy an external Firewire case for $90, then look around for the burner and pay the $215 that it's going for. Really though, 24x? Is it worth the extra $100 for the additional 8x? Literally, a minute savings? I say use the extra $100 to buy 512mb of ram, then you're smoking.
