A recent report from Morgan Stanley says it's "too soon to call the bottom for the PC market," but upgraded Dell. It also said that "consumer demand may be an issue for Apple Computer, particularly in its desktop products," noting that a new iMac may make its appearance at MacWorld in July.

    Demand

Apple has no problem generating a certain amount of demand. They just release a new, spiffy product (TiBook, new iBook, etc.), and the demand will be there. Granted, the cube didn't go over well. Some things are just here before their times...

    Cube = 2 expensive

Apple figured they could charge the same as a tower for the cube. The cube is a beautiful computer but it should cost around $1000 base and $1500 top model. If I'm going to pay $2200 for a topline cube I'd rather get a 533 tower with mroe exoandability. This is more of an imac like computer meaning consumer or an exec using office wanting a cool computer. You can't price this in the pro machine level.

    Analyst Shmanalyst

The analyst(s) prolly holds a lot of DELL and was watching it drop today, oops time to prop it up with vibes.

Apple is starting to implement growth stategies way outside the mainstream of repeat buyers and education (which is starting to rebound) with its stores.

Finally you can go see the latest iBook, iMacs and other products actually WORKING, with OS X no less. And the people will actually HELP you!

I was at CompUSA this past weekend for at least 30 minutes in the Mac section. There was not a single new iBook anywhere, a single PBG4 on display locked in this "cage" thing not running a demo or even iTunes. The lone G4 was locked into a loop trying to boot Mac OS X. Unfortunately I lack hacker-leel UNIX so I could not get it cleaned up (I did get verbose mode, and didn't see any sign of Mac OS 9 so its basically dead).

NOT A SINGLE CompUSA DRONE ASKED ME IF I NEEDED HELP OR HAD ANY QUESTIONS!

I estimate at least TWO lost sales of Apple products (full computer purchases of at least an iMac or possibly a full G4!) while I was there. The software section is a mess with few titles (even less than usual). The only bright spot - no stock ladder blocking the section for ONCE!

CompUSA is a JOKE! (CompUSA must order products to sell, they do not simply "get" product sent whether they want it or not) Apple - open more stores esp. in the Phoenix metro area as this place is dying from abuse at the hands of CompUSA/SEARS/Circuit City.

I wish the economy hadn't tanked or I would be loading up with AAPL stock right now for the huge rebound we should see when the stores show a profit and market share creeps up again.

    Analyze this...

I sure would like to know what Morgan Stanley is smoking, and wish that they would send me some. By my estimates Dell is going to tank for at least two more quarters and is facing major problems (price war with Gateway, Windoze XP, outstanding investments in mass storage solutions, etc). Of course the number one Dell issue is the fact that Mikey Dell has the cranial capacity of a grey squirrel......

    Mikey Dell....

Actually, I'd put my money on the grey squirrel. They're pretty clever, unlike Mr. Dell.

    MS should come clean...

They're machine of choice in their offices is DELL. I know, I've been to their offices.

Considering that they treated Macs like the cooties, I wouldn't go by anything they're saying :)

    Told you all...

I've been saying since 1993 that the Mac was doomed, and this is just more proof!!!! According to analysis on my souped-up hand made PC, with its 1.4GHz processor (beat that mac lubbers) and Windows, I've been running a statistical analysis of how long Apple has, and the results are... oh damn, the program crashed. OK, don't worry, the rest of this OS is stable and won't...oh, there goes windows explorer refreshing my icons, damn it! Why do they always reorder them on me. OK, where's that program so I can run my analysis again...c***, now it says my CD drive isn't working. OK, I'll get back to you with the info on the macs death once I reboot and figure out whats causing my problems....
