John Brandon becomes Apple VP

Apple has announced that John Brandon will join the company as vice president of the America and Asia Pacific, leading its sales for the U.S., Canada, South America, and Asia Pacific, excluding education and Apple's retail stores. Brandon previously served as president and CEO of Academic Systems Corporation (ASC), the leading supplier of technology-based content to the higher education market, and spent ten years at Adobe Systems, including a three-year post as vice president and general manager of North America.

    Check the Title

    If North and South America are included in his territory, his title probably includes "of the Americas" and MacNN keeps messing it up. Maybe they also think there is only one country with United States in its name.

    MacNN is geographically impaired. They couldn't spell Blue Dalmatian either.

    John Brandon

    I believe that it was under his watch that Academic Systems stopped developing for the Macintosh and later stopped supporting products that they sold to schools who bought Mac Labs just for their software, forcing them to buy a PC Lab if the wanted to use Academic Systems products.

    Maybe he's reformed.

    I think it's good

    I think that anyone who is affiliated with education can help Apple. This is just another step towards their reforming of their focus. I believe another will be seen at the next MacWorld, when they will release an iMac targeted towards education moreso than previous Rev.'s.

    Good idea to hire this guy, Apple.
