Microsoft has released a security update for the macro vulnerability in Microsoft Word noted two weeks ago. The security update is available for both Microsoft Office 98 and Office 2001 for the Mac. Each must be updated to the latest version before applying the security update.

The MS Web site is a bit confusing, in that the pages refer to both Office 2001 and Office 98. There are in fact two pages, remarkably similar in text, but one links to the Office 98 updater and the other to the Office 2001 updater.

I ran the updater from within OS X (with Classic started, of course). The updater located the Office 2001 folder on my OS 9.1 partition and updated the software. Word 2001 still runs fine. Great job, Microsoft. The read-me file was also astonishingly well-written.
If Microsoft knows anything, it is updates. It would not be an MS product if there weren't updates and SR's for it. ;)

Only with Word 2001
Although the web page says it updated Office 98 and 2001, when trying to update Word 98, it complains that I must have Word 2001 to run the updater?
Anyone else have success?
