Graphic Simulations Corporation is now shipping Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast for the Mac, an expansion set to the revolutionary role-playing game Baldur's Gate. The $30 expansion features more powerful spells, talkative NPCs, additional enchanted items, improvements in the interface and game system, and more. The company also plans to release the long-awaited multiplayer patch for Baldur's Gate later this week, which will include support for online multiplayer gaming service GameRanger.

    DVD Version?

Is there going to be a DVD version? I've been holding out on buying BG for net play and DVD.

    No DVD

According to interviews, the DVD version won't ever be done...doesn't make sense from a cost standpoint for GraphSim.

    Not impressed

I solved BG almost 3 years ago on the PC and Tales shortly there after. They are up to the first expansion pack for BG2 on the PC now. When are we going to get BG2 for the Mac BTW? Will it be a Carbon app? That would be amazing!

    Re: DVD

The one thing I hate about BG is all the dammed CD's. I would pay a little more for a DVD version.

    Disappointed

The only reason I really bought Baldur's Gate for Mac was for the ability to play multiplayer. Turns out that not only did I wait over 6 months to actually get the game, it never even supported multiplayer.

I think it is entirely inappropriate for GraphSim to release the second incarnation of Baldur's Gate without first addressing the multiplayer issue for owners of the first one.

Oh and IMHO - the company to release a multiplayer RPG in the same league as EverQuest for Mac will make a few bucks...

Uh, GraphSim isn't releason BG2. MacPlay is. And MP is on its way.
And you can install BG so that you only need on CD. If you do a web search you can probably find it. It's just a matter of copying file content over from each CD and putting it in the proper place. There is some content that is identical on each CD.

    3 years too late

BG was a great game 3 friggin' years ago! I played and solved it -- along with the expansion pack -- on a friend's pc several years ago. GraphSim really botched the job of porting the game in a timely manner and without MP (though I could care less about the MP aspect). I'm so happy MacPlay is doing the BG2 port, which should be out this year and is a dramatically larger and more robust game btw. I'm holding off for BG2 rather than give GraphSim another dollar!

BG II out by MacWorld NY

One poster was asking about the BG II release date. Supposedly it will be released in time for MacWorld New York this July....
