Apple has introduced WebObjects 5, the company's pure Java application server for web publishing and enterprise application development. The cross-platform (Mac OS X and Windows 2000 Professional) application server features a modular architecture, automated data access through Enterprise Objects, streamlined page generation, and a comprehensive suite of integrated tools, including full support for XML and interoperability with existing XML-based solutions. Other tools include Project Builder for project coordination, Direct to Web and Direct to Java for three-tier web and Java applications, Enterprise Object Modeler for database modeling, and WebObjects Builder for simplifying the design of HTML interfaces. WebObjects 5 utilizes the Java 2 Standard Edition 1.3 runtime and supports full access to Java 2 APIs. WebObjects 5 is available now for $700.

    WO5 w/ OS X Server

If you buy the OS X Server (10 User License) the cost is just $500.

Would WO5 applications be limited to 10 concurrent users in this case?

What's the cost to upgrade from our WO4.5 license?

    What's a "Moderler" ?

    MacNN,

You guys do great things with news for those of us in the Mac Community. That's why I've bitten my tongue for such a long time.

    It's time to shoot straight.

You really need to raise your level of quality when it comes to the frequent egregious typing errors that are an embarrassment to all of us Macusers...

    thanks for listening,

    Re: MacOS X Server

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't MacOS X Server only come with the application server portion of WebObjects? Does it come with the developer tools too?

People... yes, we all know how many people are unhappy with the new layout. I'm not particularly fond of it either, but I'm not going to stop coming here. Things change. If you want to b**** about the new layout, go to the lounge (in the forums) for the love of all that is holy. This is not hte place to do it.
